Techical Codes Deconstruction
Technical Codes Deconstruction
Cinematography
Camera Distances
In the beginning of the clip there is a long shot of the scene of the crime with Pablo in the middle, it's a long shot to establish the setting and make the audience knows what has happened by being able to see everything.
There is a close up of Pablo when someone is pulling drugs out of him showing the audience a particular part of him drawing them in.
There is a close up/lcu of the gun on the table, this is to get emotion out of the audience and show them just the gun so they would think about why it's going to be used.
There is yet again another close up of the drug itself when it is being described in sound. The use of the close up is giving emotion to the audience and is thrilling.
There is a medium shot of everyone in the club to establish the setting and where drugs are usually taken.
After that there is a long medium of Pablo and a girl on the toilet floor sniffing coke. It's a medium long shot to show everything in the setting and to give the feeling of being closed in.
There is a ecu/extreme close up of the a body audience to show emotion from the audience to see what drugs do to your body.
To show what happens when you take such drugs and to get a big impact from the audience there is then a close up of a bleeding nostril.
Camera Movement
The camera moves very quickly throughout the clip giving us high and low angles along with point of view angles.
When we see the drugs being taken out of Pablo when he is dead, a high angle is used in the scene. The high angle shows weakness and a loss of power towards the character which would be Pablo.
The camera quickly zooms in and out of the shot of the drugs giving the audience the impression that drugs are bad because we quickly escape from them when the camera zooms away.
When the girl is in the toilet sniffing coke and Pablo is watching her a low angle is used. This gives the impression that she has a sense of dominance and power. Which she thinks she will because she's taking drugs.
Straight after that when the girl is talking to the dog a high angle is used on the dog to show yet again that he is powerless because he is a dog.
Framing
Allot of open and closed frames are used within the clip to give variation when attracting the audience.
A open frame is used when the crime has been committed and the dog is dead this is to show the audience everything in the scene is there and important.
A closed frame is used when we see the drug taker to show that he is the main character in the clip apart from Pablo.
An open frame is used again at the club to establish the setting and let the audience know that where the drug taker is, is very important.
A closed frame is then used again when the drugs are on the table and it closes in on the most important thing. Which is the drug itself.
Mise En Scene
Setting
The story is based at home in the kitchen and then goes to a club and then the setting ends up being at a crime scene.
Décor
The background is just a traditional kitchen which is a bit untidier than normal. it has things like a kettle, microwave and cupboards. Yellow walls that look unclean.
Props
The props being used in this scene are mainly the drugs, dirty plates with old food on, chairs, table, gun ,a cup which probably has ether coffee or alcohol in.
Lighting
At the start the lighting is quite dim giving the audience a dark and gloomy feeling about the advert. When the man is sorting out his drugs the lighting gets brighter to show the audience that the main character in the advert is actually the drug cocaine. In the club the lighting is flashy and there are alot of bright colours going on and off to show the audience what kind of a setting the drug dealer was in and where drugs are more likely to be used.
Body Language/Facial Expressions
Throughout the clip the man with the drugs is always moving his body, shakeing when he needs more drugs. When he is sorting the drugs out his facial expressions give out concentration.
The dog doesn't show any body language or facial expressions because he is dead .
Colour
Most of the colours are depressing and boring, hints of yellow and dingy colours. Yellow is usually a nice colour but when its being used for the kitchen walls it looks dark and unclean which represents a drug dealer. In the club , bright reds are used to give off danger.
Costume
The people in the narrative are wearing normal clothes because they are normal people however they aren't really dressed up to standard. Their clothes are quite scruffy and plain for a night out. The girl is wearing jeans ,trainers and a boring top which isn't really what you wear on a night out. The drug dealer is wearing a scraggy jumper.
Sound
Non Diegetic Music
Non Diegetic Narration
Diegetic Dialogue
In the clip, the man is always talking rather quickly like he is agitated because of the drugs, there's one point where he shouts loudly with excitement when he is sorting the drugs out. Most of the speech comes from Pablo who talks the whole way through which is humorous because dogs can't talk.
It has a sensitive but sarcastic voice the whole way through. The girl who is taking drugs in the toilet also talks like she is agitated and hooked on drugs.
Diegetic Sound Effects
Sound effects were used in the club , music was playing to set the scene of an actual club. More sound effects are used when we see the close up of the heart beating rather vigorously. Its making a padoom sound. The music in the background will give the audience emotion.
Diegetic Ambient Sound
Editing
Editing Pace
The narrative flows well throughout the clip because each scene jumps into another scene at the right pace. Sometimes it jumps quickly, for example when Pablo is on the chair it very quickly jumps to him being dead in the middle of a crime scene. However some scenes jump to another scene slowly for example when Pablo is outside at the end of the clip looking at the payphone, the camera slowly jumps towards the phone.
Editing Cuts and Transitions
All of the scenes in the clip jump to another scene which is a cut.
An example of this is in the beginning when we are watching Pablo on the chair, it then jumps to him being dead on the floor in the middle of a crime scene.

This is my photo shop tutorial showing me how to use magnetic lassoo.
I needed to use it for my product for when i cut out images and placed
them onto different places of my images.
All i did was search magnectic lassoo on youtube and it came up with
various tutorials for me to look at, this is the one I chose.
It helped me a lot because I now understand how to use it .
Here is a photo of it.

media evaluation
Media Evaluation
By Danielle Allison
In my induction project I was in a group and we had to try and advertise Jakemans Lemon and honey Menthol sweets. Our target was for young people ages 16-19. Before we rebranded it the target audience for the cough sweets would have been ages 30+. We had to think about allot of demographic factors whilst advertising the sweets such as, age, gender, disposable income and location. These helped to advertise the sweets because we focused on certain types of audiences such as both genders and a person of a C1 socioeconomic group. The fact we used teenagers in our advert and a classical school scene, this would have attracted the age group we were looking for because they could relate with the scene.
By doing this I achieved allot of skills and weaknesses that I had. Some skills that I have developed are using Photoshop. I had to use Photoshop for my poster advertisement and at first I had forgot allot about how to use photo shop but as I went on and used different tools such as magnetic lasso I improved these skills. Another skill I have learnt is to plan for a 30 second advert. I had never planned an advert before so it was all new to me. I developed an understanding for a variety of techniques that it takes to make one such as patience because it took awhile for me to get everything the way I wanted it within the group. I found out you need team work to be able to do this and associate with the group quite allot so team work was also another skill I developed. I found out that some of my weaknesses are bossiness. I wanted my idea’s to be heard more than the other peoples in my group which wasn’t very nice for my peers so next time I need to listen to other people more. Another weakness was not being able to come up with ideas on Photoshop so I could have been more imaginative to make my advert and poster look more attractive and appealing. I am progressing with the skills that I have learnt because every time I use Photoshop I get gain more knowledge with it.
The skills I have used are team work, initiative, and camera and Photoshop skills. I’ve used these skills effectively to enhance the attraction of my advert and poster.
The elements that didn’t work would have been the layout of it because sometimes it was hard to fit everything in to the scene, so the audience may not have been able to see everything they should. If I could do the project again I would try using a better scene for the advert and try making it more appealing and funnier. The project did meet the demands of the target audience however to be more interesting I would try use a different variety of models with different styles to show the audience that any 16-19 year old can buy the sweet. I think my work demonstrates my understanding of the audience segmentation system because it shows I have thought about what situation and models to use for the advert because I choose a situation that would relate to the target audience likewise with the models because I used people with the same age as the target audience.
